This week sees the third major championship of the year, so with most of the world’s top golfers assembling at Brookline, here we preview the US Open and throw in some free golf betting picks.
There may be a civil war raging in golf at the moment, but there are still going to be 156 of the best players – available – lining up to play the US Open this week.
There are arguments to be had elsewhere, and the LIV Golf Invitational events will continue to dominate the narrative. But we can’t let that detract from the top-quality field that will be in Massachusetts this week to take part in the 122nd edition of this great event.
Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas are just four of the big names competing this week. And by pure coincidence, they are the four favourites with the best sportsbooks to win this prestigious event.
Depending on who you are betting with, will depend on which of the four is the favourite in the Vegas golf odds.

Rory McIlroy seems well up for it at the moment and is worth a couple of bucks with BetOnline.

Before the Canadian Open, Finau was a massive +5000. Now his second-place finish has seen his odds dive into +3500. He shot just 126 across the final two days, the lowest score across the final 36 holes.
Despite the cut in odds, I think Finau is excellent value at +3500.
Burns finished T4 in Canada, and in his last six starts, he has won twice (the Charles Schwab Challenge and Valspar Championship).
Sam Burns is in good form and he’s yet another exciting up-and-coming American golfer looking to leap to the elite level. This may well be his week.
My final pick is Max Homa. The 31-year-old is up to 23rd in the world, his highest world ranking. 40 of the last 41 major winners have come from inside the world’s top 50, so that gives Homa a chance.
He also finished fifth at the recent Memorial Tournament at Muirfield and won the Wells Fargo at the start of May. Homa is in the form of his career and is well worth a small wager to win his first major this week.
